Purpose and scope
JMAR Editorial Assistant is a free editorial support plugin published by Menachem Jacobs. It helps users assess manuscripts for JMAR submission compliance and scholarly coverage, audit citations, and prepare revisions. These terms apply to use of the plugin; the applicable OpenAI terms also govern use of ChatGPT.
The intended JMAR workflow involves authorized editors reviewing manuscripts already received by the journal. Other users may use the publicly available plugin only with content they are authorized to provide. Access to the plugin does not make a user a JMAR editor or create a relationship with the journal.
Free use
The plugin has no purchases, payment processing, or plugin subscription fees. Access to ChatGPT and any associated services is governed separately by the relevant provider’s terms and pricing.
Authorization and confidentiality
Provide only content you have the right and authority to process through ChatGPT. Follow any author permissions, journal policies, confidentiality commitments, and applicable institutional requirements. JMAR’s author permissions cover GPT-assisted editorial review of submitted manuscripts; authorized editors must stay within the scope of those permissions. Other users must ensure their own authorization for this processing.
Remove patient-identifying information and unnecessary sensitive information before use. Do not use the plugin to disclose confidential work without authorization. Protect manuscript files, conversations, and generated review reports according to the obligations that apply to them.
Editorial limitations and verification
Outputs may contain errors, omit relevant sources, misunderstand an argument, or suggest inaccurate citations. Independently verify important quotations, references, clinical statements, and descriptions of rabbinic positions before relying on them or incorporating them into a manuscript.
Formal submission compliance and halachic literature coverage are separate assessments. A favorable assessment does not certify intellectual adequacy, novelty, factual accuracy, publication readiness, or acceptance. Qualified human editors and reviewers remain responsible for editorial decisions.
The plugin does not provide a binding halachic ruling, individualized medical advice, or a substitute for appropriate professional judgment.
Manuscripts and publication
These terms do not grant the publisher or JMAR an additional publication license to a manuscript. Existing author–journal submission and publication arrangements remain separate. Use of the plugin does not submit, accept, or publish an article, and generated feedback does not constitute an official editorial decision unless the journal separately adopts it through its own process.
Responsible use
Do not misrepresent AI-generated feedback as a verified source, fabricate citations or patient outcomes, or claim that the assistant has performed checks it has not actually completed. Preserve the distinction between source text, interpretation, suggested revisions, and unresolved questions.
Availability and changes
Features and instructions may change. These terms do not guarantee continuous availability or any particular editorial outcome. Material changes to these terms will be reflected in a revised version and effective date.
